Taiji Qgong

 

TRUSLOW_091107_TaiChi59 (1)Our Tuesday and Thursday 9am Qigong classes are now focusing on Taiji Qigong. This practice comes from martial qigong and integrates traditional taiji qigong movements with the Coiling Set, adding movements from the taiji form to develop an energetic feeling of the taiji movements. 

The Coiling Set involves gently twisting the hands, arms and torso to circulate energy between the bone marrow and the skin creating a delicious tingling sensation of flowing energy. It’s very therapeutic for anyone with carpal tunnel, arm or shoulder issues.

Traditional Taiji Qigong uses spinal wave movements along with breathing patterns to integrate the mind, body, breathing and energy.  We often move across the floor with taiji stepping movements such as “Wave Hands Like Clouds” and “Step Forward and Brush the Knee,” searching for the energetic patterns in these movements.

This class is energizing and fun - but not too strenuous, appropriate for all fitness levels. No knowledge of the taiji is needed, but if you are a taiji practitioner, this class will deepen your practice.
